What's On Your Banquet Table?

Our pastor presented a beautiful sermon this morning on what thankfulness looks like. He had us to close our eyes and envision a long banquet table filled with all of our favorite holiday foods...then we were challenged to fill that table not with food but with other treasures that we were thankful for. Each one of us, just like with different favorite foods, would have different treasures we are thankful for. He shared with us that the foundation of a truly thankful heart is one that reflects the very nature of Christ. Our text was Col 3:1-17. We are to lay down those things in our lives that don't reflect Christ. (5Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature) And we aren't to just lay them down but replace them. (12Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.)
And then I think The Message Bible sums it up beautifully in verse 17 (Let every detail in your lives—words, actions, whatever—be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the way.)
I do thank God my Father...He has blessed me in immeasurable ways...I envision my family, my church, our kids school, our health, our jobs, our freedom as Americans, just to mention a few, laid out on my banquet table...treasures from God...
What about you?

Peace...
